Castaic Is Heating Up!

 The water is heating up and is around 78 degrees with stained green water.

Yes the water level is dropping, but the fish don't seem to mind! The Largemouth bite has remained very consistent. In the morning the Largemouth seem to be very tight to shore. A squarebill crankbait, a wacky Senko or a jerkbait are getting them. We prefer the Thin Senko in a Green Pumpkin Red Flake or Smoke Black Flake color for wacky rigging. As for the reaction baits, we prefer natural colors such as Ghost Minnow or shad colors. Later in the day when the lake gets kicked up from boaters and the wind a mudline shows up. At that point a Texas-rigged or shakeyhead Roboworm or Pro Senko do the job when presented parallel to the mudline. We prefer the 6" or larger Roboworm in natural colors such as Oxblood or any other color with that darker red/brown hue. The same colors apply for the Pro Senkos. The boils seem to be starting to show up in smaller numbers. With our upcoming weather system we should see the water temp rise and the boils should become more steady and abundant. Bluegill are being reported in the shallows in the backs of coves around stickups.
